1. Introduction of Kiyomizu Temple

Kiyomizu temple is a UNESCO site and its origin dates back to the 8th century. It is certainly one of the oldest temples in Kyoto.

It is noted for its unique architectural style - the main hall stands on a cliff, being supported with a wooden platform in front. The platform is projecting over the cliff and the supporting pillars look spectacular.

The object of worship of this temple is the image of the eleven-faced Kannon, a Buddhist deity of mercy, loved by Kyoto people for centuries.
