Koryu-ji Temple was founded in 603 and is said to be the oldest temple in Kyoto.

The temple has over 50 beautiful Buddhist statues (made between 8th and 14th centuries) in various sizes. “Miroku Bosatsu” is the most famous among them, for the beauty of its appearance - sitting in the half lotus position, the posture showing contemplation.
