1. Introduction of Kurama-dera Temple

Kurama-dera temple is located in the rich natural environment. It is the head temple of the Kurama – kokyo Sect and the three venerated deities of the temple have been worshipped by local people since the 8th century.

Starting from the mountain gate, a path with its numerous hairpin curbs (ascent) leads to the main hall (about 45 mins walk from the gate to the main hall). You can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring and colorful leaves in fall.

The temple is also associated with some legends: Tengu or long-nosed goblins and Yoshitsune or Ushiwaka-maru, tragic hero of samurai who lived in the 12th century.
