1. Introduction of Tenryu-ji Temple


Tenryu-ji Temple is a UNESCO site and was founded in 1339 by then Shogun Takauji Ashikaga, for the repose of Emperor Godaigo’s soul.

 

Shogun was a title for the de-facto ruler of Japan as well as the leader of the samurai class. 

 

Its landscape garden is spectacular, retaining almost the same form as when it was designed in the 14th century.
