What is "Kyoto mansai tours"?

What does "mansai" mean in Japanese and why is it used?

'mansai’ means "full of /a lot of something" in Japanese. The word can be written as ”まんさい", ”マンサイ”, or ”満載” in the three Japanese writing systems.

The word "mansai" is used in a wish that your visit to Kyoto/ Japan would become "full of enjoyable memories".

Concepts

(1) Tours are private and guided: One Tour (for one private group) Per Day

Other guests outside your group will NOT participate in the same tour; maximum FIVE people for each tour/group, and tours are meant for family/ solo traveler/ small group.

Please note that if your requested tour day is already booked by other client(s), your booking will be declined, as Kyoto mansai tours can lead ONE TOUR (FOR ONE PRIVATE GROP) PER DAY.

Bookings are accepted from ONE month before your planned day of a tour through each tour page.

(2) Kyoto mansai tours is based in Kyoto, Japan. It offers tours to visit beautiful places in Kyoto.

Where is Kyoto located?

Today’s capital of Japan is Tokyo. Kyoto, however, served as the capital of Japan much longer than Tokyo - between AD 794 and 1867, over 1,000 years. Kyoto is located about one hour from Osaka and Nara by train, about two and a half hours from Tokyo by bullet train.

(3) Languages used in tours are English and/or Japanese.

For English-speaking guests:

The guide will use English, but if you are learning Japanese /would like to learn some useful Japanese words (such as greetings, simple nouns, etc. or more) while taking a tour, the guide will include some in the explanations and the conversations with you.

For Japanese guests/Japanese-speaking guests:

The guide will use Japanese or English. If you are learning English, the guide can use English (to the extent of your request) in your tour so that you will be able to enjoy listening to the explanations in English and using your English to communicate with the guide.

Message from Fumiko Koike, Founder & Guide

I am Fumiko Koike, Founder of Kyoto mansai tours and I will also be your Guide.

I founded my own guiding service, Kyoto mansai tours, in 2020. I came up with this business name and the logo design to make my guiding service sound / look more self-explanatory, by using the place name "Kyoto" as I reside in Kyoto city in Japan and the word "mansai" to show my wish rather than just using my personal name.

I hope you will find a tour you might be interested on this website and am looking forward to showing you the beauty of Kyoto when you actually come and visit this country.

All photos and explanations on this website and related SNS such as InstagramFacebook, etc. are taken/written by myself. I also have a passion for sketching and painting - you can also see some of my art works here.

Before becoming a National Government Licensed Guide, I worked for a stock brokerage firm for over five years, and then worked as an English teacher to teach English to Japanese people for twelve years. I practiced speaking English in Australia for 2 years. I have a degree in English literature and also have an English teacher's license of Japanese junior and high schools.

Thank you very much for taking a moment to visit this website.
